The month of May is a month full of vibrant colors which creates harmony with more positive energy compared to the previous season. For many people, the month of May means warm weather but when it comes to photographers, it’s about getting outside and getting that connection to nature. Many photographers know that May is dedicated to contact and here at Twist Gallery we understand the meaning of that.
“A Walk Through Nature” an exhibition which is currently being hosted at Twist Gallery to celebrate photographers who enjoy taking pictures in nature. The exhibit opened on Thursday, May 2nd and will remain at the gallery until the end of the month. Eight artists participated in this exhibition; Natalie Robertson, Larry J. Herscovitch, Melisa Bosch Jimenez, Andrew Collett and Kim Steward-Strong, Jose Marvin Ramos Evasco, Jay Kerr and Vincente A.
Kim Stewart-Strong, one of the artists who participated in the exhibition says she is drawn to vibrant colours and striking images. “I want to impact the audience and give them strong emotions,” she says. Running two businesses on the side and having two children, she says photography was a hobby that turned into passion later in her life.
All of the displayed photographers share one common challenge when it comes to nature. The weather! Stewart-Strong says her trip to France was ruined once due bad weather but she also learned to create beautiful pictures out of this.
Natalie Robertson another artist, explained photography is a way of expressing herself as she enjoys taking pictures of nature….specifically birds. She calls herself a “bird nerd,” also saying she photographs animals because, “My work is telling a story, a story about animals in their environment.”
The photographers have gone through thick and thin getting these perfect pictures to convey messages through nature, and they have really proved there art work to be phenomenal. Welcome to contact month.
