I wish to visually abstract the power, majesty and intimacy of nature. There is something distinctive, even magical about the scenes I view, even in the middle of ice storms. I treat the art-form in terms of analyzing its basic shapes and colours, separating them apart so the viewer can better feel its impact. I am interested in the emotions that nature evokes in us. The elements harmonize or fight, and dance together to create an expressive mood of the scene.
Nature has a profoundly personal significance for me. It evokes a sense-of-life emotion in my gut and puts me in the right frame of mind to release its stories, memories and even ideas. I love its many designs and try to dissect them and re-compose them on canvas, hopefully directing the viewer to a greater realization of it’s potential.
