Jillian Claeys
About
Jillian Claeys (b. 1983, Chatham, ON) is a Canadian visual artist and recent graduate of OCAD University, receiving a BFA in Drawing and Painting in 2012 as well as the Frederick Hagan Passion in Paint Award for 2012. She has also previously studied Environmental Geography and Ecosystem Restoration at Post Secondary institutions in Ontario. Drawing from her educational background she combines subjects of urbanization, natural phenomena, and mapping with contemporary abstraction. The balance between humankind and the environment is a theme that can be found throughout Jillian’s work. She has shown throughout Ontario and is currently working and exploring the vast landscapes throughout British Columbia.
Additionally, Jillian has planted over 1, 500, 000 trees throughout northern Ontario, BC and Quebec. And still counting.
